While Gov. Brown might have some good ideas, he has to get them past a legislature. That legislature has a minority party (republican) that lives and dies on ideology, not the common good or need.
It’s ideology that’s damaging California, not a lack of good ideas on ways to raise revenue, and certainly not a lack of money floating around the state. California(ns) would be fine but for a throughly dysfunctional legislature.
Jay, that’s a very fair point. I do think it’s important though for a governor to be both pragmatic and principled. I think Gov. Brown has struck the right balance and goes to the legislature with a strong hand.
